Course Assignments / WEEK THREE / Re: Lawrence Sterne and FW

In the first 7 paragraphs especially --but also thru'out the text-- JJ has conflated Lawrence Sterne Lawrence O'Toole Tristram de St Lawrence* and Lawrence County, GA so that they form some kinda mystical unity
so, of course, there's another Dublin in Lawrence County, GA
of course

Anudder synchro-mesh -- I just looked at EVERYONE SAYS I LOVE YOU on HBO a few nights ago
Also the Tempio we're reading about seems full of sea-gods. A book called THE STONES OF RIMINI attributes this to Sigismundo's facination with the philosopher Gemiso Plethon

Consider halley's comet --
If we "know" anything about it, we "know" its periodicity, a space-time structure defined by newton's equations which seem isomorphic to the phenomena.
Or a map of U.S. showing 3 cities in this order
LOS ANGELES BOSTON DENVER
NOT isomorphic to terrritory.
Second map
LOS ANGELES DENVER BOSTON
does seem isomorphic.
As Kung said "to know what precedes and what follows aids your comprehension of Dao" [processing]. |

Mike Horowitz, Leary's archivist, believes or once believed that THE WIZARD OF OZ foretells Tim's whole career.... The only details I remember: Tim = the Wiz, Kansas = Harvard, acid = cyclone, L5 = Oz, wicked witch = CIA..... |

Interestin pernt -- both Ez & JJ wrote some of their best lines about the sea....
Both JJ's first book [Chamber Music] and his last [FW] end with sea imagery and the saal-women or sea-hags..... who also appear in wot EZ originally intended as the first Canto
Fascinatin'.... |

The Japanese govt. thought so highly of Fenollosa's work that they buried him in a grove reserved for national heroes
after he wuz dead of course
Ez has had a lot of japanese poets in his fan club for 70 years now
i don't know wot this "proves" but it seems relevant |

Course Assignments / WEEK TWO / Re: Pound - knowledge of Chinese article

Achilles Fang of Harvard preferred Ez's translations of Chinese texts to more traditional versions
Daniell Colye who recently got a Ph.d. in Chinese language and literature likes Pounds's translation of Dao as "the process" better than earlier attempts but thinks "'process" alone even better
I don't know enough to venture an opinion |
