Shannon points out that
as information in a message increases
[& resemblence to Chaos correspondingly increases]
the test for information lies in REDUNDANCE.

E.G. the Islamic content of first 7 paragraphs
seems more probabe after 3 refs of 1001 Nights, Mecca
scenery, Haroun, the prophet's coffin etc.
than it did with just the bay > bey sample

154  Course Assignments / WEEK TWO / Re: Chrisian bible & Xtianity in FW's opening 7 paragraphs on: August 23, 2005, 10:37:55 AM
as cpl Kling quoted
"a waalworth of a skyerscape of most eyeful hoyth entowerly, erigenating from next to nothing and celescalating the himals and all, hierarchitectitptitoploftical, with a burning bush abob off its baubletop and with laroons o'toolers clittering up and tombles a'buckets clottering down."

the Woolworth builfding in NYC -- tallest skyscraper in the world when JJ began the WAKE
Eifel tower skyerscape > fire escape > Parnell fled down one when almost caught with Kiitty O'Shea
erigena  > Scotus Eringa, irish heretic [pan-theist]
larons o'toolers > St Lawrence O'Toole, patron of Dublin, successful politically
tombles a'buckets > St Thomas a Becket, unsuccesful politically

Eriigena was not understood in his time
"which explains, perhaps, the delay in condemning him"
--Canto 35

in the light of light is the virtue
"Sunt lumina" said Erigena
--Canto 74

Light tensile immaculata
 the sun's cord unspotted
"sunt lumina" said the Oirishman to King Carolus
'OMNIA
all things that are are lights"

Making people feel stupid NOT my goal!

I've loved and studied the WAKE and the CANTOS for [73-17 = 56.....], uh 56
years. Will try to slow down info overload. Sorry!

Both Ez and Jim tried to give us a whole new world, including
wot previous Western epics had omitted [mostly Oriental
and modern science perspectives] I'll try to
give only highlights of same. Huh

Our man Jim got interested in synchronicity in 1909 -- long before Jung
named it -- when he visited the grave of Nora's former lover, Mick Bodkin
and noticed that the adjoining grave said "J.Joyce" Huh

Cpl Kling--

All of Joyce's major works end with a female speaking. FW both begins and ends with female imagery.

> means "suggests," or a pun of

PARAGRAPH 1

PARAGRAPH 3
baba > Arabic for Father
BABA > Ali Baba [1001 Nights/epic]
great fall > fall of the kaba on Mecca

PARAGRAPH 5
his tete in a tub >  the man who put his head in water and found 1000 years had passed in that instant of subjective time [1001 Nights]
Haroun > Haroun al Rachiid [1001 Nights]

PARAGRAPH 7
cubehouse > [literal translation of Kaba]
Arafatas > hill nerar mecca whichpilgrim must face on arrival
koresh > tribe who persecuted Mohammed
Whitestone > Kaba came down white, got blackened by human sin
[the 5 parts of day] > 5 times of prayer for Moslems
nabi > prophet [Arabic]
provost scoffing > prophet's coffin suspended in air
one thousand and one stories > 1001 Nights

Good grief! What is this -- some kind of a joke?
   --IN COLD BLOOD

A report to the UN human rights commission in Geneva has concluded that Iraqi children were actually better off under Saddam Hussein than they are now.
This, of course, comes as a bitter blow for all those of us who, like George Bush and Tony Blair, honestly believe that children thrive best when we drop bombs on them from a great height, destroy their cities and blow up hospitals, schools and power stations.

My last words to Timothy: "I've met Bucky Fuller, and i still consider you the
smartest human I've ever known. I've met Gerorge Carlin and i still consider
you the funniest human..."
Timothy: "Robert, you're an excellent judge of charcter."

He died 2 days later. Sad
